This November 2023, following the completion of the EU Fire Safety Week (EUFSW23), the Modern Building Alliance is committing alongside the European Fire Safety Alliance (EuroFSA) and other related stakeholders to the publication of the Manifesto for the upcoming European elections: “Keeping EU Citizens Fire Safe in all Buildings”.
The Manifesto calls for the European Institutions to prioritise fire safety in buildings by developing and promoting a consistent strategy with Member States for the fire safety of all EU citizens. The document elaborates why the European Union must play the role of coordinator in the fire safety field.
Aligned with the subsidiarity principles, the EU Fire Safety Strategy suggests ten actions:
The Modern Building Alliance welcomes the sectorial approach to address fire safety in buildings at the European level. For us, fire safety should be considered in a holistic way, starting with prevention, detection, early suppression, evacuation, compartmentation, structural safety and firefighting, which is reflected by the consortium of co-signatories.
